What the Enquire service is
Enquire instantly connects you to library staff who are trained to help you find answers to questions on any subject. Best of all the service is free and anyone can use it at any time!
Enquire is a world-first, offering a nation-wide live question and answer service 24 hours a day, every day. It works like instant messaging or 'chat', so you can put questions to librarians, just as if you were talking to them in the library or on the phone. (Or if you prefer, there's also an email service if you don't need to have the answer straight away or are using a screen reader).
Helping people find all sorts of information is one of the great skills library staff have and now you can reach them directly online, so Enquire whenever you want...
Libraries that staff Enquire
Library services across the UK are working together with library staff internationally to deliver Enquire around the clock. Libraries in the UK staff the service from Monday to Friday, 9am till 5pm, and international library partners cover other times.
